Heartfelt Petals

I think the card today is gorgeous! Mary Jo is the designer...she stamped and embossed the petals from Heartfelt Creations Open Petals set then cut them out and formed the flower. She used a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder on the background piece and then sprayed Tattered Angels Pearl Glimmer Mist over it. The Happy Birthday is from the new JustRite Tag Making Kit set. She added pearls from Amuse to the center of the flower to finish it all off. Beautiful!

He Loves Me

This card was made with Cuttlebug's "He Loves Me" embossing plus folder. The white heart was stamped from Unity's "Wishes and Kisses" set. Add pearls from Hero Arts and you have a quick, easy & beautiful card!

The second card today is also created using Cuttlebugs "He love Me" embossing plus folder. The heart on this card is the center cut out. Spellbinders Labels Eight was used and the paper is from Fancy Pants. Doreen was the designer for both of the cards.

PEACE * LOVE * JOY

Doreen did this card in traditional fashion to my delight!! There's nothing better than the reds and greens of Christmas. She used Cuttlebug's Winter Trees Embossing folder on white paper and distressed it with Shabby Shutters Distress Ink. The stamp Peace * Love * Joy was stamped with Versafine Olympia Green and is from Penny Black. Paper on the bottom of the card is Christmas Past Collection from Graphic 45.

Christmas Countdown

This card is one of my personal favorites. Cuttlebug's Christmas Countdown and Holly Ribbons Embossing Folders were used along with Spellbinder's Fancy Tags. The verse is from Penny Black. The Bazzill used papers are so rich and colorful. Doreen created this quick, easy (my kind of card) beautiful card.

Believe Card by Doreen

Good morning all! Brrrr..........the temps this a.m. remind me that Fall is truly here and winter is soon to come.......

Doreen created this card that has a " snow" theme. She used a Cuttlebug embossing folder for the wonderful background. The paper is Core'dinations so when she sanded the surface the lighter blue core color really sets off the pattern. The large snowflack is cut with a Cuttlebug die. She layered a smal blue felt snowflake over it - from Creative Impressions. She also added a few holographic snowflakes with small brads. The verse is from the Joyeux Noel set by Cornish Heritage Farms which includes 4 snowflakes & 3 other words/verses. I really like the contrast of the deep blue background with the bright white snowflake!

.......keep warm!

Anniversary Card

My husband & I recently celebrated an anniversary. Here's the card we received from my sister Kathy........
The background piece was embosed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder. She told me that she sanded the design but didn't like the pastel color so she oversprayed the design with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Deep Plum. The floral pattern on one heart is created with a stamp by Tim Holtz from the Nature's Discovery set and silver embossing powder. She didn't know the maker of the "Love" stamp but it's also embossed with silver. She did a bit of recycling with the tissue paper........saved from a gift she received. The black paper is from Core'dinations which has a core of a different color, in this case the inside & core are lavendar. This paper works so great with the Cuttlebug embossing folders because the second color shows once the design is sanded. FM has many colors of the Core'dinations papers. Unfortunately, the black papers are not in stock right now........they're on backorder.

Spread some love........
..............stamp & send more cards!

Twin Cards

A birthday celebration!

Today, my grandsons turned 7. We spent the day celebrating & enjoying family time, good food, and best of all, birthday cake! The boys are twins so I made their cards alike only different colors......one blues & one greens. I used the Spellbinders dies to cut all the circles & the star. It's so easy to create a frame.......like the star......with the Nestabilities dies. The very tiny stars were cut with a punch. I used Cuttlebug embossing folders for the numbers background & texture on the star frames.

The "It's a party" stamp is from a Technique Tuesday set called Small Talk. I used several different papers for the circles. The star frames & tiny stars were cut from metallic paper. I used the Ranger Inkessentials white pen to outline the "7".

These were not quick cards!

But fun!

More Embossed Copper

Answer to a question about the copper used on the embossed bird & grass card:

I used copper foil tape on a piece of card stock. Copper tape is not easy to find. I searched on Ebay to find it. The same results can be achieved by using copper craft foil which is easier to find. Fond Memories sells packages of assorted color foils. I would suggest using a Xyron to apply adhesive to it, stick it to a piece of cardstock & then emboss it. Trim it to size before embossing. Cutting the embossed areas afterwards will flatten the design.

Another option is to use a piece of 36 ga copper sheeting. Fond Memories sells sheets of it that are about 8.5 x 11. It's also available in craft stores on rolls. I thought I should try a piece before I suggested it to anyone else. I cut it to size, easily done with a scissor. Just don't use your best one as it will eventually dull the blades. (Tip: I use a $ store scissor exclusively for metal. It works great!) I positioned it in the Cuttlebug embossing folder. It was so easy to see through the folder to align the copper to emboss the part of the image that I wanted. I don't have the Cuttlebug so I used my Wizard by Spellbinders to emboss it. I believe the results will be the same in the Cuttlebug. It embossed beautifully!

I did heat the copper to get the different colors. My heat gun is quite hot so I used it to heat the the copper. As it heats, it changes colors going from gold to pink to blue to silver & back again. It took a long time to get it to change colors. I suggest a torch for quicker results. Put the copper on a ceramic tile or hold it with a tweezer or pliers as it gets very hot.

I painted it with black acrylic, allowed it dry slightly & then buffed the paint off the raised portions with a paper towel. I mounted it on black & then rusty red papers. The leaves pattern seemed made for the Graphic 45 paper! I used a Rust Adirondack marker to change the color of the gold brads to match the copper. This close up photo shows the colors of the copper -------}

New papers....

Good afternoon, all!
Today, I'm writing from the store. Kathy & Doreen are putting out new papers from Imaginisce. Imaginisce continues to create wonderful patterns in 2 sided 12 x 12 papers. The papers are wonderful for scrapbook pages as well as cardmaking. "All Kinds of Happy" is a new line of birthday themed papers. "Baby Powder" papers cater to babies, of course, with papers for baby boy or girl. Each line has brads, rub-ons, stickers, flowers and clear stamps to coordinate with them. You can see all the papers at Imaginisce .
If you've been searching all over for the CuttleBug embossing folders, stop at the store. There are numerous designs in stock now. A few new ones are: Birds & Swirls, Swiss Dots, Number Collage, & Diamonds in the Rough. Many of the favorites are back in stock, too: Distressed Stripes, D'vine Swirl & Stylized Flowers. These embossing folders are so easy to use with the Cuttle Bug. The impressions are great to add to card backgrounds, mats & a bit of embellishment. In my last post, the card with the bird & branch uses the "Dotted Swiss" & "D'vine Swirl".
We have new papers by Reminisce, too. Water fun is the theme. Most of the papers are pearlescent & feature bright summery colors. There are matching rub-ons & stickers, too. There's lots of fun stuff to add to your scrapbook pages. Be sure to stop in soon.

Hooray, it's Friday!

Thank goodness it's Friday. I'm looking forward to a great weekend.

I have a couple more sample cards from the store to show you. Doreen created this cute bird card using 2 different Cuttle Bug embossing plates. The texture adds a lot to the card.

The second photo shows 2 cards made with Penny Black stamps. The "happy birthday" was colored with glaze pens. The shine compliments the shine in the background paper. The "birthday girl" card was made by Sally. The Penny Black "girls" are all so cute!

Enjoy the weekend!
