A Scrap Card

Good evening all! I'm so happy to have my internet working again! Yeah!!! I had a cute card to post on Thursday evening but couldn't even connect to the internet. The issue had been going on all week & finally failed completely. Evidently, they got it fixed on Friday while we were away. I'm so glad.

I made this "scrap card" on Thursday at the store during my lunch. I call it a scrap card because I sorted through the paper scraps for all the papers that I used. I used a cute Hero Arts stamp set called "From our Home". I stamped the bridhouse & bird on the back side of Bazzil paper because it's smoother for stamping. I used the Ranger white pigment pen to color the house. I stamped the image again on a scrap of white paper. I colored the bird with colored pencils & cut it out. I mounted it over the bird on the house using a tiny bit of foam tape. I cut around the house at odd angles. Then I cut a piece of red cardstock randomly & a striped mat to layer onto a piece of white card stock. I stamped the verse with Black Onyx Versafine. I added a red gingham ribbon & adhered it to a blue card. Voila! a quick note card. I challenge you to dig through your paper scraps for some coordinating pieces, find a set of stamps you like & make a scrap card.

Until next time.......keep stamping.

New landscaping for a Walnut Grove sign

I thought you might enjoy seeing a photo of several WG Community Club members who met on Monday night to redo the landscaping around the welcome sign on the east side of town. The idea was to create a dry creek bed near the sign with plantings to compliment it. After much discussion & several suggestions, a plan took shape. We laid a dry creek bed under the sign using lots of field rocks happily donated by some area farmers. Once that was in place, clumps of perrenials were planted & mulched. Three large rocks were set in front of the sign. We thought it would be a great spot for visitors to pose for photos. As you can see, the rocks make a great stage.

A collage birthday card

Internet issues kept me from getting this posted last night. How frustrating! I spent 30-40 minutes talking to a tech person. He couldn't resolve the problem. I was able to get online for a short while after talking to him but I couldn't load a photo or the post that I wrote. They seem to have gotten it fixed today. Yeah!

Here's a special collage birthday card that I made Sunday night. I used several Tim Holtz stamps, Distress inks, Tattered Angels glimmer sprays & a birthday greeting & net background by B Line. I first stamped the net background on a piece of manilla file folder. Something about the surface of a file folder works well for blending the inks. I stamped the frame in the center & then added the verse. From there, I stamped various images in several colors of Distress inks around the edges. I also added color with Cut n Dry foam. I sprayed a cream card with Terra Cotta & Autumn Leaves Glimmer sprays as well as Olive Vine. I even colored the lace (white originally) with the Glimmer sprays & a touch of ink after I glued it on the card front. I rubbed some Walnut stain on the tips of the flowers & sprayed them, too. I assembled the card using a strip of green & brown papers as mats, tied a ribbon & attached the flower over it & the lace.
A collage card like this can be made with many different stamps. The exact same stamps aren't neccessary to get a great looking card. Experiment with some different colors & stamps. You never know what beauty may emerge.

Saturday Greetings....

Hello, everyone! It's a been a long while again. I find it difficult to spend much time indoors when the weather is so nice. I keep vowing to post every day......as each day ends, I've not found time. My thanks to everyone who keeps checking the blog. Please continue to check back.

Yesterday, the Fond Memories crew met to discuss the Fall Workshop. Yes, it seems early to be thinking of that. Yet, if we don't get it planned, we'll never get the product ordered to arrive in time. The workshop is scheduled for September 20th(only 3 months away). We'll have some great card projects. I'm excited to get started on some designs. We decided some of the products to use as well as stamp companies to feature. We have some specific ideas as well as a few open options. Of course, I can't tell you more......that would spoil the excitement of coming to the workshop. Please put it on your calendar. Remember, we ask that you pre-register for the workshop. I'll post more information as the date nears.

As I haven't made any cards this week to show you, I'm substituting some of the beautiful flowers in my gardens. This is my favorite time for my gardens. Everything is so fresh. This peony is absolutely loaded with flowers this year. I rescued this plant from the road ditch near an old farm place 4 years ago. I had one root & a couple leaves when I planted it. It has grown well since then. The red dianthus is tucked under the overhang of the peony.
The peach iris is still blooming since our spring was so
late. A geranium blooms behind it.
My clematis like the peony grew by leaps & bounds since last year. It overgrew the trellis & hangs to nearly reach the ground with lots of beautitul blooms.
The old fashioned roses (above) grow near our machine shed. They, too, are covered in flowers.

What a beautiful morning!

What a wonderful Saturday morning! I'm enjoying the bright sunshine, birds singing & the beauty of everything green outside this fine morning. We've waited a long time for such a great weekend. I'll be heading outdoors soon to do some yard work & enjoy the day.

Some new papers came in at the store last week, FFA theme papers. There are stickers, too. These would certainly make great scrapbook pages for anyone with FFA memories to record.

I hope to get a few card samples done this weekend to post......maybe after dark when I have to come in from outside. Now that I've mentionned it here, I'll be committed to getting it done.

I'm off to spray dandelions, do some trimming and maybe plant a few perrenials. Of course, there's weeding to do, too.

Enjoy this great day!

Take 6 is tomorrow

Take 6 is tomorrow! If you haven't signed up to make 6 great cards, call & beg to squeeze into a time slot. I'll post photos of the cards next week so you can see what you missed.

Here's a photo showing some Laura Ingalls Wilder stamps. The two "Laura" stamps were designed by a local artist. These stamps are only available at Fond Memories. The verses are quotes from Laura. The cards on the display were created using these stamps. Contact the store if you need any of these stamps!

During July, area actors portray life on the banks of Plum Creek in the Wilder Pageant. The story is based on the book by Laura Ingalls Wilder, "On the Banks of Plum Creek". The outdoor production depicts life as Laura 's' family lived while on the prairie near Walnut Grove along Plum Creek. For more information, go to http://walnutgrove.org/ Why not plan a trip to Walnut Grove, take in the pageant, visit the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum & stop at Fond Memories? We'd love to see you!

Home again.....

Sorry for the lapse in posts.....I took a trip to Wisconsin to visit my sister over the weekend. I was so busy getting ready to be gone that I didn't get to post last week. Thanks to all of you who keep checking the blog anyway.

Tomorrow, I'll catch up on what's new at the store so I can share any new samples or products with everyone.

Here's a card I made for my nephew's graduation. The stamps are all by Penny Black. The verse, small diamond border & dotted background are wood stamp designs: Congrats, Diamond Run, & Pointelle. The red diamond border was created with 2 sizes of diamonds & small scroll from the clear set Salutations. The papers are from Heidi Grace. The blue card came from a pack of colored note cards by Hero Arts. The color is great with the Heidi Grace papers. If you want any details or more information, email the store or leave a comment. I'll leave a response comment or email you back.
